Takdah has a great Orchid Center spread across vast stretch of area. It's about half a kilometer from the market area towards 6th mile. Here you can see many different kinds of unusual and colorful Himalayan Orchids being cultivated and grown. Many tourists come to Takdah particularly to visit the Orchid Center.

The Orchid Center which was one of the best in Asia, was neglected for a long time. But now the state government has taken a fresh initiative to revive the center.

Amongst the host of attractions and activities, Takdah Orchid Center stands as an ideal reason to fall in love with the place. Normally accessible to the visitors from the months of February and April, Takdah Orchid Center is an exclusive sanctuary to a rarest and a wide variety of orchids. This remarkable Orchid Centre sprawls over an area with historical importance.

Tracing back to the British era, the garden area was appointed as the gathering spot of the British soldiers. Historical evidence affirms that Takdah was home to the 2nd Battalion British troops, that was drawn to fight in World War I. Tales about World War I are articulated from the generation who actually testified that eon.

Takdah Orchid Centre, once neglected, is now well maintained. It’s presently owned by the Government. A large number of tourists come here simply to visit the Orchid Center. Surprisingly flat and even stretch exists amid the grades, comprising the stunning Orchid Center.

Takdah Orchid Center stands at an elevation of 4,000 feet surrounded by a throng of lush green tea estates, that dominates its slopes and vales. Nestled at a motorable distance of 30 minutes away from Lamahatta, the place is home to some Heritage Bungalows, alpine forests, including hamlets overlooking the scenic landscapes.
